The #1 digital pattern mistake (easy fix)

Free Patterns Master Index // Handmade Gift Ideas // Maker's Studio

Hello Maker,

Digital patterns are amazing… until they don’t print true to size. And if the size is off, even a “perfect” sew turns into a confusing mess fast.

One of the biggest problems I see (and yep—I learned this the hard way) is that printing from your internet browser vs. printing from your computer can change the scale. A tiny setting you didn’t even notice can throw the whole pattern off.

So I put together a Quick Start Guide to Digital Pattern Assembly to help you skip the frustration and get sewing with confidence.

Inside, I’ll show you:

  • the pattern size check you should always do before cutting
  • the simple print settings that keep your pages true to size
  • how to assemble tiled pages so everything lines up the way it’s supposed to

If you’ve ever printed a pattern and thought, “Why does this look… wrong?” this guide is for you.

Free Patterns Master Index // Handmade Gift Ideas // Maker's Studio There's something really satisfying about making clothes that get genuinely worn — not just held up and admired, then folded away. Kids' shorts are one of those projects. They're simple enough to finish in an afternoon, and kids will actually put them on and run outside in them the very same day. These free shorts use an elastic waistband and jersey knit fabric, which means no zippers, no buttonholes, no fussing. The pattern...

Free Patterns Master Index // Handmade Gift Ideas // Maker's Studio Five minutes, a little satin, and something genuinely beautiful. I have a soft spot for projects that don't need a single stitch — not because I don't love sewing, obviously — but because sometimes you want to make something beautiful without setting up your whole machine. These DIY fabric flowers are exactly that kind of project. A little satin ribbon, a clip, and you've got something that looks like it belongs in a boutique...
